As a company progresses from idea to product/service to customers, sometimes those working most closely with the company fail to step back and see the big picture. Buried in daily tasks, talking with colleagues, prospects, and customers alike, many small or start-up companies continue progressing onward without a true understanding of what they can do to produce long-term results for the company.

One example, Groove, had noticed the exact cycle as mentioned above. With that in mind, they established 3, 6, and 12-month goals in a set of strategic roadmaps. By having these meetings and discussions, they learned not only about their company and how they can improve and reach their goals, but about each other as well. This company building process resulted in a team-building aspect as well.
