People are captivated by stories, especially if stories explain how something began. Inc.’s Patrick Hanlon argues that brands can create employee and customer engagement by telling the company’s origin story. How can telling an origin story create customer engagement? Hanlon says that hearing how you got started triggers an emotional connection from customers, which makes them more receptive to other forms of engagement because they’ll feel like they know you, they’ll recognize you, and they’ll believe in you.
